I know you are not supposed to give dogs chicken bones, but what about beef bones left over from making soup stock? Do dogs eat bones? That can't be good for them, can it?? Should dogs be given bones at all??

Yes, dogs can and do eat bones. They can often break them up into smaller fragments and then swallow those. If you want to give your dog bones to chew on, then stick to the large marrow bones, like those from the femur. Pay attention to them and if they get broken into smaller pieces or fragments break off, take them away and dispose of them.
