URGENT - Nikita - B w/wht F - Anniston AL *Rescued*

Nitika is at the Anniston Animal Shelter (aka Calhoun Co Humane Society), not the county animal control. However, they do hold animal control contracts and have constant space issues. Additionally, as a predominantly black dog and one who is suffering in the loud atmosphere of the shelter, Nikita's chances are slim. I have gotten confirmation from the shelter that they would like her to go to rescue if possible. The rescue contact is shelly(at)bamalegal(dot)com, NOT the general shelter email. Pull fee of $50 includes everything. They will hold a reasonable amount of time for transport arrangements (which I of course would be happy to assist with).

Nitika is underweight at probably 30#. She spent most of her time in my arms/lap! There is trauma to her teeth, making her difficult to age but I believe she is young.

Nikita is a precious girl who does not appreciate the loud kennels. After being carried outside, she felt much better – but her favorite place is still in your arms! She’s a total love, staying close by and listening intently to you. If you are looking for the type of strong bond that is the specialty of the collie breeds, Nikita will provide. She did loosen up and interact nicely with the other dogs in her kennel. She is not high energy so should not drive you crazy with demands for all-day play. This pretty girl will need regular brushing to avoid mats ~ she stood quietly for grooming, so that's no problem. Some of her very front teeth are broken off and the tips of her canines are also snapped off, as if she chewed herself free of something.

I would call her Niki and she's beautiful. I love those mostly black dogs. :)

I now consider Nikita URGENT. She is falling apart in the shelter environment. I have a request out, but if anyone else can be a backup plan, I'd sure appreciate it. She has turned kennel aggressive but can be leashed and has no aggression outside the kennel. She is terrified and clingy once outdoors. She wrapped her paws around me and did not want to let go (and neither did I!).

She's a pretty little girl. I feel so badly for her. I bet she'd be a different dog out of the kennel and into a home. :(

Awww. :( She looks much more BCish in those last two pics, too. I sure hope someone can find room for her.

Yah, they are better than the first month (I was very frustrated when I pulled those off the camera) tho still not quite as BC as she is in person. She's like me - not photogenic. Tried to get her ears pricked...failed.

Anyhow, still working on her. Gotta keep telling myself that four dogs is (a) not legal and (b) not sane.

"four dogs is (a) not legal and (b) not sane"

If that's true, I suspect there are a lot of criminally insane members of this board, and I'm taking the fifth!

Option A turned her down. There is some confusion I guess that I need to state more plainly:

She is NOT dog aggressive in any way, shape, or form. She is kennelled with 2 other dogs, both hyper and bouncy. No issues.

She is NOT human aggressive. I held her, carried her, groomed her, pulled mats out of her, checked her ears, feet, tail.

She is noise sensitive and cage aggressive through the gate. Go inside the kennel - no issues.

She can be pulled and held locally and further evaluated prior to transit for foster home matching purposes. But she must be pulled by rescue. I am at my legal limit for Dekalb County and Molly's Personal Headspace and can't offer to foster her under the shelter.

ETA: She also comes with $75 sponsorship money from the "We Love High-Black Dogs Club" :)

I just have to share Niki's out-of-shelter shots by her wonderful foster mom Terry:
