Nitika is at the Anniston Animal Shelter (aka Calhoun Co Humane Society), not the county animal control. However, they do hold animal control contracts and have constant space issues. Additionally, as a predominantly black dog and one who is suffering in the loud atmosphere of the shelter, Nikita's chances are slim. I have gotten confirmation from the shelter that they would like her to go to rescue if possible. The rescue contact is shelly(at)bamalegal(dot)com, NOT the general shelter email. Pull fee of $50 includes everything. They will hold a reasonable amount of time for transport arrangements (which I of course would be happy to assist with).
Nitika is underweight at probably 30#. She spent most of her time in my arms/lap! There is trauma to her teeth, making her difficult to age but I believe she is young.

Nikita is a precious girl who does not appreciate the loud kennels. After being carried outside, she felt much better – but her favorite place is still in your arms! She’s a total love, staying close by and listening intently to you. If you are looking for the type of strong bond that is the specialty of the collie breeds, Nikita will provide. She did loosen up and interact nicely with the other dogs in her kennel. She is not high energy so should not drive you crazy with demands for all-day play. This pretty girl will need regular brushing to avoid mats ~ she stood quietly for grooming, so that's no problem. Some of her very front teeth are broken off and the tips of her canines are also snapped off, as if she chewed herself free of something.
