Just received this guy's initial info and photos in an email from someone who works closely with the shelter. I will update with more information as it becomes available but wanted to get the word out now in case anyone is interested. I believe the stray hold at this shelter is 5 days, and I can be a local contact.

Just coming in now off the truck. Male Border Collie/mix found as stray. Had been hanging around a guys house for a few day. Waiting to hear if he's fixed or not…but we all know what the answer will be. Isn't he adorable. Call Randy Weaver for more info 615-643-1003

Price, who usually takes the photos for and networks out animals at this shelter, is in the midst of a health crisis for one of her personal dogs, so I'm not sure when I'll have more details to share. However, I did look up the fees from a previous email: "Adoption fee is $40 with a $25 spay/neuter deposit."

Unfortunately, there are no arrangements or discounts for rescues, but Randy (the ACO) is very helpful and loves having his dogs go to rescue. Plus, I am familiar with the routine of adopting dogs from the shelter and then helping them move on to their rescues.

Heard today that this guy is still at the shelter. I will be making a trip to northern TN later this week and can try to get in to eval him if anyone is interested.

Today's update is that this guy is still in need: "Has been there since May 16th no calls!"

Last week's trip was postponed, but I will be in the area tomorrow and would be happy to try to visit him if anyone is interested in rescuing or adopting him.

No, the shelter does not use PF: the only publicity the animals there receive is what individual volunteers (like Jo Ellen, who forwarded his info to me) provide. In fact, the shelter does not even have Internet access--it has one ACO with a tiny office and not much else.

On the upside, the ACO, Randy, cares a great deal about the animals and is happy to work with rescues and adopters. But he also cannot make any special accommodations: every animal that leaves the shelter is adopted, with no reduced pull fee.

I asked Jo Ellen for any other information she could share about this dog, and here is her reply:

very good dog, laid back. listens to Randy and follows directions, stop, sit, stay…they gets outside, says low, has energy. but calmer than most but loves to play outside. male intact.

It's probably no easier to get him to GA so West TN might be the better bet but I can take him if transport can be arranged to somewhere closer to Chattanooga. I always seem to have an endless supply of people wanting sweet, smart boys!
