Degenerative Myelopathy

New postby Victoria H on Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:58 pm

One of my BCs has Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). He is currently on Aminocaproic Acid and other supplements. He was doing OK until recently he falls quite a bit.

Does anyone have experience with DM? Anyone used a bottom up leash for rear support? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Victoria

We bought and tried the "Bottoms Up" leash and it didn't work out for us. However, we used one of these for over 2 years to get our 52 lb dog (with a VERY arthritic back) up and down a flight of stairs 3/4 times a day. Worked great! Easy to put on and it helps to steady the dog as well as lift him. You can let the dog do as much work as he wants to. We called it his "suitcase" and it worked in just that way.

Oh! Did I mention inexpensive (read cheap)?
