She just had one today it lasted about 2 minutes all together I was wondering if any of you have any info on making fresh dog food? I was looking on line for some info and I stubble On this guy named Michael Dole and he is selling this book called "Canine Seizures Break Troughs" And another book called "101 Healthy Recipes To Fight Canine Seizures" Have heard of him? And do any of you have any info how to make dog food for my dogs? If this has been talked about could you post a link for me?
The food i am giving them is Pedigree and I know it is like the worst dog food out there! I want to do the best for my dogs but the really good dog foods out there I cannot afford. So any help would be much appreciated! This is the link from the sight I was looking at http://www.canineseizuresbreakthroughs.com/

Hi, Linda,

I'm sorry to hear about Honey's seizures. I'm also learning about seizures since Ody has had a couple in the last month, so I feel for what you're going through.

I just took a quick look at the website you provided, and I have to say that it looks like the Internet equivalent of one of those late-night informercials. Before I invested any money or time in that guy's alleged miracle diet, I would definitely want to talk to my vet more and learn from more reputable sources about the possible causes of Honey's seizures. What has your vet said so far? Do you have any ideas about what could be causing Honey's seizures?

And I know money can be tight, but I think you'll find you can feed a better quality food than Pedigree without spending too much more. One thing I discovered when I changed to a better food is that I feed a lot less of it each day, so a bag lasts longer. :) And better food can, in turn, reduce vet bills, so it can pay off that way. I'm not a food expert, but if you're interested in making a change, maybe other folks could offer some suggestions.

Good luck finding out what's happening with Honey and coming up with a good plan for her.

Have you had the cause of the seizures diagnosed by a veterinarian? I think that should be the first step.

Thanks for the input I had a funny feeling that was what it was. Just thought I would ask.
Honey ran into the couch about 8 months ago Head first. She had her first seizure about 3 days later. :( I took her to the vet and he said wait and see. She had a few more all spaced out every few months I dont know if it is from her hurting her self or not. She acts normal most of the time maybe a bit grumpy but she is 9. I am going to call my vet and talk to him

It definitely wouldn't hurt to upgrade your dogs to a better quality of food, regardless of the cause of the seizures. Check out these two websites for some help with choosing a better food that's still within your budget. If you have a Costco membership, consider switching to their Kirkland brand of foods. They're actually very good quality for a very low price.

If you have a Costco nearby, you would probably pay less for Kirkland than you do for Pedigree.

Do we need to worry about wheat and corn? I had found Costco pretty good. I also make my own sometimes...

As others have mentioned, the Kirkland Signature brand you can buy at Costco is very good quality food for the price. You do have to buy a yearly membership to join Costco to buy the food. And they sell cat food too. Most everything else there I find overpriced, but by buying just their dog and cat food I save LOTS of money yearly even considering the membership. (Have 7 dogs and 8 cats.) The dog food comes in 40 pound bags and is about $30 depending on which variety you buy. Also Tractor Supply sells their own brand of food called For Health that I think is also very great quality for the money. It costs a little more than the Costco food but still very reasonable. Guess it would depend on which stores are closer to you.
Also, some people think that seizures can be lessened by feeding cold vs. hot protein foods. You would really need to talk to your vet about that, there is some info. on Internet. Costco does now sell salmon/sweet potato dog kibble too, called Nature's Domain. It is about $35 for 30 pounds, and salmon is considered cold protein. I guess it is their version of the Pacific Taste of the Wild, but much cheaper.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog's seizures. First thing is trip to the vet I think.
