Long Time _new addition!!

Very very long time since I've posted here although I stop in now and then.

Just wanted to show off the crew, along with our newest addition, Lola-Palooza the beagle!! Yes, we've crossed to the really dark side. Let's just say that after working with border collies...she's not the brightest bulb in the pack!!

Great to see you and your pack again! And, inspired by your trip to the dark side, no doubt, I added a beagle to the household in August.

Very cute! I wanted a beagle so badly many years ago. They are so cute. Then, I noticed a person who I met on walks with one. Very cute. Very good at yodeling. Powerful lungs on that dog. Anyway, I decided maybe beagles weren't appropriate for my suburban life. But, many years later I had a foster dog that was a hound dog/border collie mix. When I took him to flyball practice to socialize and he did the hounddog bay, it reminded me of that beagle, and how badly I had wanted one. Sweet dogs. May yours give you much joy, and just the right amount of hound dog music

I wanted a beagle so badly many years ago. They are so cute.

I was in a clicker training class with Mozart years ago with a Beagle in it. The trainer called the Beagle the most hard headed breed on the planet.

She is hard headed...and stubborn...and don't even think about letting her off leash ever because once she figures out there's a rabbit in the area, that's the only thing on her mind!! Then you wave a treat in front of her and all the sudden she is the epitome of an obedient and patient dog. And then there's the snuggling...I have never met a dog that likes to snuggle so much. All the dogs greet me when I come home, tails wagging, ready to go out and play but she wants just a few minutes to sit on your lap, get some loving, then out the door to the yard we go! Everyone more or less gets along after a couple frustrating months in the beginning. My boy, Emmett, and Lola are BFFs!!! They play together, she runs underneath him and bites at his belly to get him to play, he hipchecks her into the furniture and it's general chaos!

We've had some insecurity issues, we adopted her at age two and before that she was given up two months earlier for "lack of housetraining." Our vet is guessing that she has had a little of pups and she had next to no socialization with other dogs. She didn't understand the calming signals my others were showing and she would get all riled up and start a fight. Fortunately, a behaviorist helped us through that and she's much much better over the year.

She was adopted out and returned twice also for "lack of housetraining." Well, two days after bringing her home, she ended up in emergency surgery for a hernia that had never been fixed and then we discovered that her urine seems to have a very high PH to it. So essentially, it was like peeing glass for her all the time. I'm still a little miffed that no one else ever investigated enough to find this out.

And a general update on the others...Chloe (far right) is turning 13, her hips bother her quite a bit and she's really slowed down. I'm afraid we don't have that much more time left with her so she is getting spoiled rotten. Who doesn't want a pancake and eggs every weekend with us?? Shelby the lab (far left) is turning 12 and I think we threaten to trade her in at least every other day. She is the perpetual puppy in the house, we call her "Action Bo-Bo" because the second anything moves, she's up and ready to go! Emmett has turned out to be a super handsome boy. He's 6.5 and has matured quite nicely. We quit agility due to some personal reasons and he's now the best frisbee, camping and lake dog ever. Looking forward to teaching him to kayak or paddleboard next summer!
