We adopted a rescue dog from a rural shelter last week. He's beautifully-behaved, and the shelter said they thought he was Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog. The more I look at him, however, the more I think he may be a speckled BC. He has perk ears, dark brown eyes, and extremely soft fur except for the hindquarters, which are much more rough and less silky. One double dew claw. A very, very sweet personality, and not very active -- a one-hour walk completely tires him out, although that may be due to being kept in a shelter for some time. Otherwise he's extremely curious. Your thoughts on the possible breed? Thank you!
Structurally I do see a lot of Cattle Dog in the shape and proportions, ears and tail. But not the coat - that came from elsewhere. Could be Border Collie or Aussie, but the "rough" hindquarters is more suggestive of Aussie to me. So the shelter may have done a really good job! Love that smile you've put on his face. I bet you'll get more endurance over time.
