Aiken, SC One eyed bullet

New postby Jakes mom on Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:03 pm

I stumbled onto this site by accident.. I have adopted the one eyed border collie that was at Aiken County rescue. It is great to see that so many were reaching out to find him a home. I am here in aiken competeing my horses in eventing. On a rainy day we went to the ASPCA and the rescue. "Jake" was looking scared and depressed. The loss of his eye didn't upset me so much but it was that fact that he was emaciated. I have cats at home that weighed more than he did. He had not adjusted to the fact that he only had one eye due to the lack of exposure to the real world. He has been with me for 2 1/2 weeks and is doing great. I have another border collie and a collie sheperd cross and all are adjusting. Jake has gone to horse shows, out hacking with the horses, and truck rides. We will leave for PA in a week and will live on a 75 acre farm. He is gaining weight rapidly even with all the exercise he gets. Thought you all would like an update

I am so thrilled to hear that Jake has a new home! I think the loss of his eye was the result of a domestic argument that got obviously way out of control. I know that someone that had evaluated him said he was filthy and underweight, so I am so happy he has a nuturing home and sounds like some great buddies to play with too!

I am so happy for him, it sounds like he is going to have the happy life he deserves.
