I haven't been here in a while. I wanted to introduce myself. My name is michele & I have rescued babies. I have a maltipoo named Belle and a border collie named reveille (Texas A&M name, my daughter's choice, not mine...I would've named him TroubleMaker or something along those lines ). Belle was rescued from a park. She was so bad, she was covered in fleas and her fur was matted to her body so that we couldn't even tell if she was a boy or girl.None of that mattered to me, I saw a little dog that needed my help. She is a beautiful little girl and until she learned tricks from Reveille, she was quiet and didn't cause any commotions. Rev was HW+ when I found him and it broke my heart to watch him suffer through the shots. At first, we couldn't even tell he had HWs. The TROUBLE he got in to actually made me laugh! Before his diagnosis, he tore apart my comforter just to get the stuffing out. I learned REAL quick that Border Collies are smarter than me! He even taught Belle to knock over the trash cans, tear up pillows, and bark at EVERYONE & EVERYTHING that got too close to their property (theirs, NOT mine lol!). Anyways, Rev won me over with his charm and even when he was being a terror, he just gave me a "But I'm sooooo cute, how can you get mad at me?" look. It's impossible to stay mad at them...and they know it! When he went through his first treatment, I stayed by his side the entire time. I even slept on the floor by his crate just in case he needed me. When he was retested, he was still HW+. I was absolutely devastated! The vet said there's no way he would survive another treatment & that it would be best to put him down. Needless to say, I found another vet! The new vet agreed that he wouldn't survive another treatment but also said that we could try the heartguard route for a year and see how that worked. We started the program & he was testing HW+ but the vet refused to give up. On Feb of this year my Reveille got a clean bill of health! YAY! Now he's happy and loves to go for walks and car rides. Belle and he are the best of friends. I can't take one outside without the other, and if Belle is in my lap, well, Rev wants to be in my lap as well...not the most comfortable situation for my lap! In the almost two years I have had Rev, I can no longer imagine not having a BC in my life. I am owned by my dogs. I am owned by my BC. Anyways, just wanted to re-introduce myself and my babies. we"ll Be seeing y'all!
