Lady Belle waits at the bridge

Lady started going downhill Tuesday morning. She was unable to eat or drink with a 104 temperature and was bleeding internally. The vet believes she had a tumor that ruptured and caused her symptoms. At 16+ I didn't think she would survive any surgery and somehow the look in her eyes said she was ready to go. It was a hard decision but I believe the best one for Lady. Lady would have been with us 4 years the first of March. We give thanks for the privilege of having Lady in our lives and the love she gave us.

Oh, my heart sunk when I saw the subject of this thread. :( I had been thinking about Lady recently and wondering how you were all getting along, and I am so sorry for your loss.

I still remember when you first found her, and how every step she took back to health was a cause for celebration. How fortunate she was that you rescued her and gave her nearly four years of love and attention.

Rest in peace, Lady Belle.

I, too, am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful and lucky girl she was to have lived her final years with you. I have no doubt that she was grateful for everything you gave her including the permission to go onto the Bridge now. I pray that your memories of her will comfort you and give you peace.

I am sorry for your loss but I know Lady Belle was grateful for the 4 years you gave a Senior Dog.

I lost a treasured friend today,
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And share her silent thoughts with me...

She'll come no longer to my call,
Retrieve no more her favorite ball;
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to His golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears,
I thank Him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know...
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with her bark.
