Folks. Hear that...the transport is between me and amurray. I cannot foster the pup in addition to the tan&white (I pulled her from a shelter a few weeks ago) but if someone else will foster the pup and arrange to meet me very early in the morning to get her to my car Weds the 4th (?), I can get her to Art.

Ali, I will politely agree to disagree with you regarding this shelter. :D

I spoke with the kennel manager this morning, and a pup in the kennel next to this guy broke with parvo this morning. She is waiting for the vet staff to get out of surgery to speak with them about testing all of the puppies in that area since they are in such close quarters. She will let me know what happens. I have notified Art Murray directly about this situation.

I currently have 6 of my own dogs plus 2 foster pups in quarantine until Monday night. I definitely cannot take him before Tuesday. If all is well with him re: parvo, I will see if I can find a way to get him here with me sometime next week until the transport. However, if there is someone else who could take him for the waiting period, that would be great. The kennel manager is easy to work with, and she will probably be able to at least put him on a "hold" until Tuesday if she knows that he definitely has somewhere to go at that time. :|

This pup is now safe. He has been pulled and is in the vet clinic awaiting his full vetting tomorrow. I will be picking him up after his surgery tomorrow, and he will be staying with me until his transport next week.

I will need for someone to contact me, privately or on here, to give me the details of when and where he needs to be for the transport next week.

His name, at least for the next week, is Oliver. He is a little snuggly doll!!!

Thanks for your efforts in rescuing this puppy! Can't wait to see out of the shelter pics of his cute self. Hint. Hint. :)

Update on this puppy - He has been here with me since last Tuesday evening. His name is now Oliver. He is a real sweetheart and is emerging every day, kinda like watching a rose bud bloom.

Of course, housetraining was non-existent. He's doing much better with it now, but he does have a ways to go. He absolutely LOVES other dogs, and he adores the heck out of me. He was TERRIFIED of my husband at first, but my husband has won him over. Apparently, he had a bad experience with a man somewhere in his short life. He is also a little shy with strange women, but he warms up to them very quickly.

He is a "shadow-dog", and I never have to wonder where he is or what he is doing. He is always "right there". Today, he learned that he can actually run for more than 3 steps (limit of the shelter kennel), and he blasted around the front yard in ecstasy.

My working dogs are teaching him how to "be a dog". They are very tolerant of him, and my aussie actually played with him today. He comes with us for the livestock feeding rounds since that does not require being on the same side of the fence, and he is intimidated by the horses and sheep at this time. He may show herding instinct at a later stage of his life, but he is not showing that right now.

He is such a doll!!! If I didn't have so many dogs already, he would be a MAJOR foster failure!!

BTW, the Kacie in the picture with Oliver is the Kacie from the Tangi Parish Animal Control Center who was posted on here almost 5 years ago. I had pulled her to foster for Bayou Border Collie Rescue, and she ended up being a MAJOR foster failure. She also ended up being a working-stock aussie instead of a border collie, too. ;-) Guess the black/white coat pattern had the shelter staff confused and had me in doubt at first, too.
