Tulsa Shelter Over Crowded -- Cute Gabe 6 month--RESCUED

I received the following plea from a friend who volunteers at the shelter..

"Please help my very special friend, Gabe. He is a 19 lb, male, unneutered 6 mos old Border Collie pup. He has a docked tail ( natural?). He is on the smaller side but 100% eager to please. I can’t imagine that he would be very hard to train. He is very loving and quiet spoken, a soft soul. Walks with you with or without a leash. He looks to you for approval and will work for your love. He will run after a ball, touch with his nose and then run back to you. It was difficult to get pictures as he always wants to be near you or on your lap. A few strokes and he is yours.

Truthfully, the Shelter is on over load and he needs to be rescued quickly. Pictures do not do him justice., he is adorable. Gabe will be available the 16th. But, if anyone is interested, they need to call Tiane Christy, our adoption coordinator at 918-669-6289. They can have their name put in the computer to say they are interested."

If I remember correctly, to have him neutered and given shots is $75. I would be willing to sponsor that for a 501-c rescue. I will also do what I can to pull and start transport.

Rescue Pending, thanks to the help of a lot of good people. He'll be neutered Wednesday or Thursday and sprung on Friday. Thought you'd also like to hear an update from the shelter staff on him: "Gabe is coming into his own and I am beginning to think also needs a job. Gabe was very thin at 19 pounds when he first arrived, but is up to 23 pounds and looks good at this weight. He runs the yard but always makes his way back to touch base with me and fall into my lap (I always sit on the ground when I take out the dogs.) He is becoming more energetic which I think has to do with his weight gain and his comfort....sweet boy."

GREAT news about little Gabe! I was beginning to worry about him. The other red dog at Tulsa (Monkey) is rescue pending as well, then?

Yes, Monkey the R/W at the Tulsa shelter is also rescue pending...he too will be sprung on Friday. YEAH!!!

Gabe and Monkey have been sprung! At 10 pm they are sound asleep in my home awaiting their big ride tomorrow. They both love people. Oh, the sound of the little tails (or backsides in Gabe's case) hitting the sides of the crate as they said hello to me for the first time. In a few short hours the two have become best friends. How lucky they are to have a chance at a new life, with people who understand the needs of this active breed. Thanks again to all who helped get this transport together and let these boys hitch a ride and special thanks to MN BCRescue giving these guys a place to go.
