Kacey is a very sweet black and white Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix female. She is around 2-3 years old and was brought in as a stray.

She is a Baussie!

I called today about this dog. She is friendly, playful, and submissive. The shelter thought that she had probably been someone's pet because she had a good attitude towards people. She has not been on a leash (???) yet and has not had anything medical done (i.e. flea bath, shots, worming, HW check...) They treat the worst ones for worms and fleas, but not if the dogs look ok (?) (Lack of money prevents them, I'm sure.) They were very nice and said they would do some of these things if she were going to be adopted. They could not find a scar so she probably has not been spayed. This dog sounds as if she would make a terrific family pet. They haven't had her very long and said she is not in any immediate danger unless they get a bunch of new dogs in.

Note: This shelter is closed on Mondays (Sundays, of course). Open Sat. till 1:00 p.m.

Does anyone know if this shelter will work with you on pickup times? I will call tomorrow. I would like to get her, but I can't get there before 6 p.m. CST due to my job. This Saturday I have to take a group of students on an all-day field trip, too. Shelter is closed on Sunday. Would it be possible for someone closer to pull her and meet me?

Madridsquid, I posted for transport help and received this response>> "I live in Jamestown and could pull her for the rescue. Where in KY are they located? I might be able to meet them in Somerset sometime over the weekend."

I was in contact with the transporter today, but she was not feeling well. So, I'm hoping to meet her or maybe shelter person at a half-way point tomorrow late. I will post if I get Kacey. I want to see that pretty face!

Any updates on Kacey? No one answered the shelter phone and no reply to my Email so far. Hoping she makes it out of there.

I called the shelter again today and spoke with someone that said Kacey was on the rescue list.....he said "some Border Collie rescue, I guess they will pick her up when they can" so for awhile I was thinking she was safe.
I went home to an email from the shelter that said she was still there and in danger! No one signed their name to the email but it was definitely a reply from the shelter, and I am fairly certain the shelter is closed on Thursday's .....
Don't know who has the right facts.....bottom line.....if she is still there when the shelter reopens......I can possibly bring her to the Lexington area. I am concerned with the Holiday this weekend.
The emailer said she was very sweet and good with animals.

Thanks so much, Barb, for following up with the shelter. I hope madridsquid is able to update us soon as to whether she still plans to pull or adopt Kacey. If not, perhaps eodred could make plans to get her.
