I just called the shelter and he has been adopted.

CA - You should probably confirm that since it might be YOU that they're thinking is adopting him. He is still showing up on PF but that doesn't mean anything.

Yeah, I was really impressed with Delta actually. Even when I arrived to pick my dog up, they knew who I was and that I was coming for the puppy right as I said hello. Indy is still at the shelter, as I called today. I spoke with a man who says "he's just a kennel cleaner and scoops poop!" He gave me a name of the lady that does all the pet finder ads for them and she helps out a lot with rescues, evaluations and transport. I emailed her and HOPEFULLY it will all work out ASAP!

Any news if Jeff could help if he lives close to the shelter? I would love to get a BC persons' opinion on him!

Also, does anyone agree that some red BCs can be a little weird or "sneaky" as the ranchers say? Just curious! Much like when people say chocolate labs are more wacky then yellow or blacks.. I've trained and worked with all kinds of shapes, sizes, breeds and colors and it's hard to say anything for sure.

I'm glad you called to confirm. When I called this morning about Indy I spoke with a man who said "he was gone". I asked if that meant he was adopted and he said yes. I just had a gut feeling that that might not be true and he might not be the person to ask. Glad you spoke with the lady 'in the know'. I'm in Louisville but not qualified to temp test this dog. Hope Jeff can help.

[quote="cutenikita"] "Indy is still at the shelter, as I called today."

Looks like he is still there, but 'cutenikita' doesn't want to adopt him until he has been temp tested. I guess Jeff is unavailable.

Am I wrong to have a dog that is not doing well and scared evaluated? We don't know why he was surrendered. I'm ok with issues, and he's only a pup @ 10 months, but if he is going to fail horribly or be a big fear based biter, for me to even adopt him out is a huge liability. I just want to know I'm not getting a Kojo. This post just went up on Wed. and ever since then I've been getting the ball rolling. People seem quick to point fingers and shoot me down, but yet no one has stepped up to help or offer advise in situations that they may be familiar with. I've made several calls and sent out a few emails to other people today to help pull him and evaluate him at the same time. I'm waiting to hear back, and tomorrow I have another name and number to call. I'm a big believer in where there is a will, there is a way. This dog is not going to slip through the cracks, and if for any reason I can't get this to work, you all will be the first to know. We have to remember, we are all here to help the same wonderful breed that we love. We share common interests and goals, yet we're too busy saying what can't be done - rather than what can we do as a team to get it done? If we are going to sit here and pee on fire hydrants, count me out.

I am confused. Where is someone putting you down and where is someone having a "pissing contest?
All I asked is "Is he there or not there?"

Contact Jeff at borderkidz@yahoo.com but he takes a long time to respond. He can do an eval.

Jerseygirl-It is fairly simple to do a basic eval. Maybe if Jeff cannot do it, you can contact Jeff and ask his help to walk you through it.

I just emailed Jeff.
Apparently the red dog is NOT safe. He is still there. There is someone in CA who wants an eval done, and if he passes, she wants to fly him out, but she needs a lot of help to get it done.
Can you help?

The problem with email and posting is unfortunately the 'tone' of a reply can be misinterpreted. I don't think anyone is trying to point a finger or piss on anything. I agree with you not wanting to adopt this dog without an evaluation. You are about to invest a lot of money, time and emotion into this dog. I called the shelter that morning to see to talk to someone on his status, to see if there was anything I COULD DO to help to make sure nothing happens to this dog while trying to get the evaluation done. I have three children 3, 5 and 7, we are stripping wallpaper, tearing up carpet and painting a house to try to hit our 10/17 move date. The timing on this couldn't be worse but I am still trying to figure out if there is anything I can practically do to help. Stick with it.

Ok. this is a little less than 2 hours from me. I work and go to school 7 days a week but I only work half day tomorrow but the shelter is closed so I cannot go tomorrow. I would be willing to wake up super early and go up there to be there at 8:30am Eastern to Temp test him if he is in danger. I have class at 10:30 am Central so would the rescuer/adopter in CA want me to try to ship him that day if he passes ? Do you think we could get the adopton through that fast? I have to leave Louisville by 9:30am to get to school on time. I have NO other time to go back there as I have 12 hours shifts at the vets office and school the rest of the week so I dont want to go temp test him if we cannot pull him or get the ball rolling. Would me going up there to temp test be worht it. Do we know for sure he is there? I would have to go before we knew of his weekend status. Id hate to get up tehre to find out he as adopted or the other way they leave the shelter. Tell me if a rescue/adopter wants me to work on this with them.

I received this email when I asked for someone to help me Temp test him.

"We evaluated him today and agreed to take him in as a foster. We are making the arrangements to move him to his foster home.
