Intoduction

I have been looking around your website all afternoon. I read the Letter from a Manager and almost bawled my eyes out. I now under stand what drives you all to keep making room for one more. Our Bandit is a 12 year old BC. He has been sick since May and is slowly slipping away from us. Needless to say it is breaking our hearts. When it is time to look for a new friend I intend to look here. I may only be able to save one but you can be sure that one will have a safe loving home for how ever long he or she lives. I have seen so many beautiful puppies and dogs today. I do not understand how people can just change there mind and throw one away. My name is Carol and will write again for help finding the right dog for us.

Welcome, Carol. I'm sorry about Bandit. :( I hope you have many more good days left with him. I know it's so hard to watch them age. Know that he will happy if you open your heart and home to a rescue border collie when the time is right. I agree with you about saving just one. It makes a difference.

Welcome, Carol. Enjoy the days you have left with your best friend. Many of us here honor BC's we have loved and lost by helping to save those who find themselves in shelters. (See my sig) When the time is right, we would love to help you with a happy ending to your search for your next Border Collie.

Hello, Carol, and thanks for joining us. Having lost all three of my dear senior pets (two BCs and a border bunny, each of whom I'd had over a decade) in the last couple of years, I understand something of what you're feeling now with Bandit. Like Virginia and Paula, I hope you have some good days ahead with him that you can enjoy and cherish. When you are ready to find a new friend, you know we'll be here!

Introduction

New postby djd on Sat Apr 11, 2009 4:00 pm

Hi, my name is dj. I have a four year old female border collie named Mandy. I did not adopt or rescue her, although I did try to adopt before getting her. She is a tri-color, with one blue eye and one brown eye. I am glad to talk to other border collie owners because I think these dogs are special. Hope to hear from you soon. dj

If you like to talk about border collies, yep, you're in the right place! :) Welcome!

If you'd like to post a fuller introduction, you could put that in the "Miscellaneous Topics" section...and, of course, we always enjoy seeing photos of each others' dogs. You could post pictures of Mandy in the "Border Collie Photos" area.

You might find "How to Post Photos," a bit of a tutorial generously provided by our member PlasM, helpful. :D I know it took me awhile to get the hang of the photo thing, myself. That tutorial thread is at the top of the Border Collie Photos section...good luck!

Hello,
I am pretty new to the site, same as you. I also came for the same reasons. Be ready there are times you want to cry, but then watch some of these people preform their magic. The way they communicate and get one dog across country to save his/her life is unbelievable. Transporters, drivers, pilots, people who can check on the dog, again amazing.
I am sorry to hear about your dog, like everyone says we can all feel the pain and we hate it. I have had to put dogs to sleep before, pretty much in their late teens, it is always awful!!! but sometimes you hit one that is special and is even harder to let go. We just went through that. What helped me is getting another dog, this is just us, what worked for us. We got another dog before we let him go, I really think we would of gone nuts without having to think about the dog we had here. Now she has become our god send, we wouldn't of made it without her. Again this worked for us to get one before. I don't know if we would of gotten another one if we waited. I know I owe Gracie, our BC forever for helping my husband survive. She makes him smile and forget, rather than coming home to an empty house. Now I want two LOL. Dang dogs are so addicting. Love um.

"Quote" is like I'm doing here--where you want to have all or part of another person's post in your reply. I find it's helpful to quote someone else's post when I'm responding to just one part of it...or when I'm responding to a post that is a few "above" where my reply is going to show up in the thread.

"Reply" is just a reply without a quote inside it.

Hope that helps! :D

No problem, dj. This board (back a few incarnations ago) was the first one I ever joined, and people were patient with me while I figured things out. :D

Johnson says "thanks" for the compliment. I have to give a friend credit for the photo, though. She's into photography and visited us for a few days and found Johnson a willing subject for her hobby. :) She kept posing him with the kong in all different variations, and he was happy just to hang out in any pose she wanted him to strike.
