Kip (was Radar in Cartersville GA)

New postby tossdiscdog on Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:48 pm

Kip is home with me after a long drive from north of Atlanta to Gainesville Florida. He visited the vets, has some minor infections but all is good! He even had his first bath and chased my chickens around lol! He actually looks to be lilac in color which is not so common, quite beautiful! Looking forward to seeing what he looks like after he gains the 10 pounds that he needs to put on. His brother Toss has accepted him and now its one happy family - Thanks to everyone who took interest in saving this little guy! I will post more photos in the near future -

Wow, is he handsome in these photos! :D I like the little smudge of white on the right side of his neck, too.

Looking forward to hearing about his progress with you, but it sounds like everything is off to a very promising start.

He's gorgeous! I'm glad to hear he's settling in nicely.

I thought he was blue (lilac, whatever they call it)! My latest, Will, is a sable (I think), and came from the same general area. Wonder if some BYB is breeding candy colored BCs around there?

Anyway, congrats again on your handsome new addition.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Kip is an awesome little boy - very well behaved, learning quickly and playing with his brother Toss too! I will post photos of Toss soon, he is a bit camera shy unlike little Kip :-)! Here are a few more photos, his condition has improved immensely since he arrived this past Saturday.

Update on Kip - Kip is doing wonderfully! We start obedience and good manners class soon, then agility (he is quite the jumper!), and we will be trying a local herding clinic too! I am so lucky that he is in my life, Toss totally loves Kip too - see the photos! Many thanks to everyone for being so encouraging and helpful during his adoption process. His brother Toss (in the photos) also came from a kill shelter in Georgia - they are both great dogs!

I just love that last picture with the two of them together. It shows how happy they both are. And, you can see the difference in their coat color. Like Angie said, they are both so handsome. I am so happy that things have worked out so well. It sounds like this match was meant to be!!

Thanks for sharing the update!!!

He is a lovely looking dog, but he is not a lilac. He's a blue. Blue is a dilute of black and blue dogs will have slate grey noses. Lilac is a dilute of red and lilac dogs will have brown noses. Your dog is definitely blue. But only in colour. In personality, he's definitely not looking blue :)
