Sad BC Boy Needs TLC Mansfield OH

New postby hippiedoglover on Wed May 19, 2010 8:56 am

This poor fella looks terrible. He is in need of TLC. I have emailed the shelter to offer help in getting him vetted and groomed and to find out his current status, how he seems with other dogs, etc. I'm waiting to hear back from them. I also left them a voicemail message last night. If someone can kindly post his pictures, that'd be wonderful.

Medium Adult Male Dog Pet ID: 47 5/14

Per PF Listing:
Meet Jimmy....he is breaking my heart. Look at his eyes....such sadness. He came in as a stray on 5/14/10. His coat is a mess and he has sharp burrs in his skin that I haven't been able to get out. I know those have to hurt. He is very sweet and he licks my hand as if to say he is thankful for some love and attention. My Contact InfoRichland County Dog Warden

Just had a quick conversation with the ACO at the shelter. They are going to take Jimmie out and temp test him. All the ACO kept saying over and over again about him is how mellow he is. He's a very quiet, loveable dog. He came in covered in ticks and burrs. He's been there since 5/14. The ACO said they don't put many dogs down there and that they are hoping to help this fella out. The ACO seems to really like him and it was obvious from our conversation that she feels sorry for him and the condition he's presently in. I offered to sponsor his vetting/grooming so he can start feeling better. She said all he really needs is some TLC and that he doesn't appear to need any vet treatment. After they temp test him, I'll post an update. So far no one has expressed an interest in sad Jimmie, but they'd be more than happy to help get him into a rescue situation.

Awwww...poor scared boy. I'd like to give him a big hug. I'm sure a grooming would make him feel better, and also make him more adoptable too.

Keeping fingers, toes and paws crossed that a rescue or home can be found for him soon.

Forgot to mention in my last post that the ACO's best guess is that Jimmie is about 6 years of age. Hopefully the next 6+ years of his life will be wonderful and he'll forget all about the first 6.

Just want to point out and mention that this boy and Roscoe are only about 30 minutes apart (Roscoe has his own thread under Morrow County, OH viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8097). So if someone is able to take this boy or if someone is arranging transport for this boy, maybe we can work out something for poor Roscoe at the same time.

Roscoe is urgent and probably does not have much time left.

Hi guys,
I don't think I am going to be able to step up for this boy.....all 5 of the GA dogs we took are special needs cases. Mostly behavioral, but some health issues too. We are touch and go with one of the puppies right now......so I am sorry but our hands are just too full.
If there is anything we can do to help, Jill, just let me know.

So I called the shelter again and left a detailed voicemail message. I was hoping to hear back from the ACO with regard to this fella's temp test, but no one has gotten back to me. I'll try again tomorrow...

sandra the enabler has offered to go get this boy,i dont know if she would pull him but she is offering transport, and she is outside of atlanta so that is a haul. Will have to pay for gas for her. IF there was someone that could pull and foster for 1or 2 nites until she could get there or meet her somewhere not too far from where he is, he would be safe. I havent looked up miles yet. just putting it out there and its a long shot.

Any other rescue ideas for our sad Jimmy? (Rosco, the other near-by dog mentioned in this thread, got a rescue commitment today).

How long will the ACO keep him? It will be good to get some feedback from his temperment test, if they can be reached tomorrow at the shelter. The fact that he is "mellow" may be that he is shut down/scared/depressed etc.

I saw that Jimmy is listed as an English Shepherd mix...so sent along his information to the National English Shepherd Rescue group at their website - http://www.nesr.info/index.htm

They are a great organization, and perhaps might have some contacts or know someone who could help Jimmy in Ohio. We can only hope! Send up another prayer for this boy, let's see if he can be saved as well!

Does anyone have any connections with Pilots N Paws (http://pilotsnpaws.org/)? Might be worth a try to see if we can get Jimmy from Ohio to Florida (or even atlanta?) that way. I know BBCR in NW Ohio has used them, but it may have been a while.
