Thanks for posting their pictures, Sally. I got to meet the little guys this morning as Kate was dropping them off at the vet's for boarding and treatment, and they are going to be really gorgeous dogs when they are healthy. The next couple of weeks are going to be long ones with them in isolation and unable to have visitors. :(

Me, too, Sally!

Here are a couple of photos I snapped this morning. Kate, I cropped you and your husband mostly out of the shots because I hadn't asked you if it was okay to post you, too. :D

Here is Pup A:

And his brother, Pup B (you can really see his poor nekkid belly in this shot):

Are these the ones the "breeder" had called someone on to ask if they wanted a R/W BC? If they are, they look worse than I thought they would :( Poor babies. I hope they pull through quickly. Isolation sucks

Yep, those are the other two remaining puppies from that litter. Kate took home the red-and-white one and named him Finn, and these are his black-and-white brothers. Kate said that, after our hard rain overnight, their enclosure was even muckier than when she met them in the middle of the week. I'll bet they are just glad to be warm and dry tonight!

ETA: Here's the link to the thread Kate posted with these pups' stories and photos of their living conditions pre-rescue: http://bcrescue.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=923.

Poor buggers :( What's up with their parents? If the puppies are living like that, what type of condition are the adults in? Is someone working on getting them out?

For whatever reason, the parents are living indoors, and Kate reports they are well cared for. I do know she is working with the owner to get the male altered ASAP so as to prevent another litter. It is my understanding that the owner does not want to release the adults to rescue, but I'm just reporting second-hand info since Kate has been the dedicated one in ongoing contact with the woman.

What an odd situation :? Kudos to Kate for all her work!!! I hope it all works out. Obviously, if the woman doesn't want pups, she needs to get BOTH fixed.

Thanks for posting the updates.

It is a bizzare situation and something I am currently working on and so I am not saying too much about the parents, but will when everything gets a little more organized. We are working on it and the owner is being responsive so hopefully everything pans out in the dogs favor.

The other pups are getting their full exam today and the vets said that once they go through a few treatment they are going to make them a quarantined play pen so they can interact with eachother and have more room to play. They will like that! Yay! for Greystone animal clinic. Super awesome vets office!

Finn, the one with me, is coming along so amazing already. Its been 5 days with internal treatment and baths and he has gone from a itchy meter of 10 (10 being highest) as he would only stop itching to have BM or eat- down to a 6 or a 7 as he stops less frequently to itch. When he was a 10 he would just cry and itch nearly 24/7. When he lickes me he dosent even know how to be a normal pup. He soflty bites at my skin the way he does his as that is what he knows to be "grooming". But It just nice not to watch him suffer as bad now that he is in treatment. I would get both angry and frusterated that anyone would allow an animal in their care to have this much pain. While its nasty and grosse the part that really gets to me is that he is in pain. He has sores all over his body b/c he cant stant to even bein in his own skin. It just kills me. But she (the former owner) did do the best of what she knew in her power and got them to rescue and that maybe all she could have done if her budget was that fixed so I cannot curse. But I know It has been hell watching him suffer so bad that I am so glad he is getting better. His hair even looks like its growing back!

This allows him to have more time to be a puppy. We are discovering that we likes tennis balls =) to run around really fast, and to hop. Yes, he hops. Welll, he hops and then pounces and climb up and down stairs. Also, despite his conditions he lived in he is very clean. In 5 days we have only had one accident which was at the vets office. I am so deligent about keeping him on a schedule but still he is doing amazing! he also has started clicker training and loves it! He also is quiet and sleeps through the night in his crate and plays nicely with his nylabone.

My vet said FInn has PPM (http://www.vmdb.org/dx1.html) and I am trying to find a good local canine opthomologist to get him checked out and see how his eyes are and see if they can detect blindness. I think it will be pretty much a waiting game but I want to give this guy every chance. (has anyone else delt with this?)

So thats the story. I will post new pictures of the pups every week so you can watch them grow and get better. Thank you for all of your support. This case has been a full time job for me!!

I am sorry to inform the group that one of the puppies didnt make it. I am waiting to hear back from the vet regarding why he passed but the current guess is gastroenteritous. Its very sad but these pups were unvaccinated and in horrible conditions. Hopefully the other pup will hang on- and he has through the night. Finn is still OK. Thoughts and prayers please =)

As you already know, Kate, I'm so sorry to hear this news. :( I just saw a Greystone employee here at my place of work, and she said all the clinic's staff is devastated, too, at the loss of one of the pups. We are all keeping good thoughts for the remaining guy.

I am so sorry to hear about one of the pups not making it...prayers sent for the remaining puppy, for him to be strong and come through all of this pain and suffering to a bright future with someone who loves him.

Since I don't know if it was pup A or B who passed on, I think that the remaining guy DOES need a name. Some native tribes believe that a name gives strength and purpose to a young one -- Let's give it a shot and find a name for this puppy.

I'll start off with a few from the BC museum names site: (most of the meanings are from the old Gaelic or Irish)

Brock "badger"
Carrick "rock"
Connall "strong as a wolf"
Fergus "King of Ulster, and a hero"
Glen "valley"
Keir "dark one"
Lex "law" (in latin)
